Happy Valentine's Day

Have a Heart...Lend a Can

We collected 75 cans to be donated to theWoodridge Community Pantry. Thank you for your generous donations!

Reading

we will be reading a nonfiction story that examines the physical characteristics, life cycle and natural habitat of various types of ants.

The comprehension strategies we will concentrate on will be organizing and questioning.

The vocabulary words are antennae, cocoons, colonies, fungus, larvae, tunnels, parasol, and aphids.

Phonics skills will cover words with nd, nt, mp, ng, and nk. We will also look at adding endings to nouns (-s, -es, -ies).

Math

We are working on telling time and measuring the passing of time. It is really important for you to work on this skill at home. In first grade they learned to recognize the hour and half hour. We are now doing quarter hours, time before the hour, time after the hour, elapsed time and time relationships. They need this skill for life. Please review their classwork and homework and review at home.

Abraham Lincoln

Our class has learned a gr4eat deal about our 16th president. Ask them some questions, I bet they can tell you about him. We will share our knowledge with Mrs. Onorato's children this week. In turn they will amaze us with everything they know about George Washington.

Valentine's Day Party

Our party will be Monday, February 14th at 2:00 pm. Remember the school rule is no treats from home. The children will get treats provided by the room moms.
